Hawaii Calls, Inc. traces its origin to July 3, 1935 when the first Hawaii Calls radio program was broadcast from the Moana Hotel on the beach at Waikiki.  Hawaii Calls, created and hosted by Island radio pioneer Webley Edwards,  successfully showcased top Hawaiian music and artists. In its heyday, the show was heard on over 600 radio stations in North America and scores of other stations in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South America, Africa, and on Armed Forces Radio throughout the world.

Over the years, Hawaii Calls has made a number of songs world famous, including "Lovely Hula Hands", "Beyond the Reef", "Little Brown Gal" and "The Hawaiian Wedding  Song". "Sweet Leilani", which made its debut in a 1936 broadcast, became the only Hawaiian song to win an Academy Award after Bing Crosby's powerful, yet gentle, rendition from the movie "Waikiki Wedding" thrilled people throughout the world.

Nostalgia time! The Hawaii Calls Show returns to the air; this time via cyberspace! With Web Edwards and the Hawaii Calls Orchestra and chorus under the direction of Al Kealoha Perry, we'll feature singers Nina Kealiiwahamana, Haunani Kahalewai, Iwalani Kahalewai, Alfred Apaka, Boyce Rodrigues, Pua Alemieda, Ed Kenny, and many others. We are re-broadcasting complete shows for your enjoyment and listening pleasure.

We're broadcasting a new show every month, and later will broadcast a new show every Saturday. You may listen to the show any time you like during the week; 24 hours a day!

For your entertainment, we've chosen the most popular shows from the past. You'll love the interesting interviews with artists and others! We'll also have a new segment, within the shows, introducing today's new artists and the contemporary musical sounds of Hawaii. You can enjoy both the old and the new music of Hawaii.

As a special attraction we hope to get Uncle Kent Bowman to re-release his famed Kiddies Korner segment, with stories like "Little Lei Pauhi," and quips and quotes from the politically incorrect Senator K.K. Ka`umanua.

Memories of Hawaii Calls, Volumes I & II, the seventh & eighth offerings from our Hawaii Calls Collection, features the world famous Hawaii Calls orchestra & chorus. The radio show, which broadcasts around the world, was born in 1935 and made its home under the spreading branches of the Moana Hotel's famous banyan tree on the beach at Waikiki.
